Sashiko

Instructor: Ako Shimozato
Supplies: $25 kit fee, payable to instructor, includes everything you need.

Some hand-stitching experience is required.

"Sashiko is a Japanese traditional stitchery, a form of running stitch, and it is literally translated as “stabbing” stitchery. Sashiko stitchery originated in Japan, for reinforcement of worn clothing which developed into stitching Japanese motif designs for embellishing fabrics.

In my class, I use natural indigo dyed fabric and natural sashiko thread which has 3 different weights.
I use typical Japanese designs that have been passed down for hundreds of years, some from family crests."
